About Circumspace
Circumspace is my umbrella for cloud infrastructure development and other experimental software projects.
Vibe code confidence
I’ve never been a confident software engineer. My focus was always on making sure other people’s code can run reliably, fast and at scale. At best, I wrote some glue code here and there to connect various systems. I know of some products that still run my code to serve production traffic, but most of the time I’d prefer to put my trust in a mid-level software engineer.
Ever since the launch of ChatGPT and the first open source LLMs I’ve been testing what’s possible with AI assisted software development and it’s definitely improving at a rapid pace. Not just in terms of model quality but also agent integration into text editors/IDEs as well as approaches to prompting and keeping the LLM aligned on the target. I want to explore this further.
Incubation
This is a collection of experimental projects exploring new programming languages, environments and development targets. I try to venture outside of my core areas of expertise.
I strive to still read and understand the code and for smaller changes, I’ll rather update them by hand instead of just following the vibe.
Linkahest - A privacy-oriented Android app that transforms links from proprietary services (X, Reddit, Youtube) to self-hostable alternatives (like nitter, redlib, etc). It also strips tracking parameters from any url.
BurrowedLauncher - An Android launcher optimized for monochrome reader displays. This is a fork of an existing eink-optimized launcher that focuses on working best on the Daylight Computer DC-1.
Both projects should be easily installable on any Android devices using either Zapstore, Obtainium or manually via released APKs.
